South Wigston. |

Who best to tell you the success of this event than Quan Arnachellum a Leicester Mercury reporter - quoted as published.
"In aid of the worthy cause of LOROS, this was an extremely well balanced and informal programme, of a very high standard, conducted with flair and enthusiasm and with something for everyone.
It evoked a range of emotions and feelings and I would have been very happy for it to have continued all night."
There is little else we need to say after this other than a huge thank you to the Wigston Brass Band for their amazing generosity in donating both their talent and their time and making this hugely successful night possible. |

| Following a very tasty ploughmans supper (many thanks to Pat) a very enjoyable evening was spent in the company of keyboard player and vocalist Ronnie Steveson. An impromtu sing-along to all the old favourite songs added to the general ambience and warmed up the vocal chords for the harvest auction shouts. At just £7.50 a ticket the evening was a true bargin. |

Music in the Park
Sat. 5th June,
Kibworth Rd, Wistow, Leicester LE8 0QF |
 |
| Held in the beautiful grounds of Wistow Hall this annual charity concert in aid of LOROS again proved popular with all the family. The WSG enjoyed a well earned picnic following some frantic selling of hot drinks to customers before the dark of night set in. As if by a planned introduction a bolt of lightening and clap of thunder heralded the start of the spectacular firework show. Even the torrential rain that followed could not however dampen the enthuesiasm of the concert goers in what was, thankfully, until that moment a dry event. |

Wigston Support Group's Spring Fayre,
Sun. 16th May, 1pm - 4pm
The Meadow Community Primary School,
Meadow
Way,
Wigston, LE18 3QZ |
 |

 |

|
As promised the Wigston Support Group's Spring Fayre returned bigger and better than ever with over 30 outside stalls alongside our own usual firm favourites, such as Tombola, Books, Games and Refreshments. The group were also proud to announce a visit from the "Thunders" of Leicester Sound and live entertainment by the Pipes and Drums of the Seaforth Highlanders and the Fleckney Silver Band. The Pirouette Dance Academy were stars of the day not only in their fantastic performances but also in their speedy provision of a sound system after the group were badly let down at the last minute by a no show provider. The Elite Cheerleaders superb acrobatic performances were flawless, even without the music for their first routine and the group would like to extend their sincere thanks to all who entertained us in the arena. We would also like to thank the Genii production team for their amazing stilt walking and providing much entertainment to the younger visitors with their circus school. Whilst the more energetic youngsters enjoyed the bouncy slide, both young and old alike were entertained by Bop Stars who, using green screen technology, superimposed visitors heads onto dancing bodies. The group were also thrilled to see amonst the visitors a very famous plumber (escorted by the well connected JPR Kids Party Team) - none other than Mario, from Super Mario, himself! Heralded a huge success the event raised over £1700 and plans are already afoot for next years fayre. |

Wigston Support Group's Table Top Sale,
Sun. 14th Feb. 2010, 11am - 2pm
Age Concern, Paddock Street, Wigston, Leics |
|
| Our first ever table top sale was a great success raising just under £700! "Car booters" were offered a much more hospitable environment for this early start to their season with stalls available at just £10. Alongside these were our stalls including books, underwear, wooden items, dried flowers and handmade soaps. Ali Ladak was there to provide much needed stress relief to visitors by way of his famous massages and as always refreshments were provided for all parched bargin hunters. |

Leicestershire Constabulary Fun Day
Sun. 6th Sept. 2009
Knighton Park
|
|
|
The Wigston Support Group was more than a little pleased with the £274 raised by their first ever stall at this annual event. The hook-a-duck and pick a lolly games were a huge success with the young ones whilst the lucky can dip raised more than a few laughs with the adults. Though some of the regular stall holders thought many had stayed away due to the roadworks on the outer ring road, the event seemed well attended. The centre display arena played host to, amongst others, the Pipes and Drums of The Seaforth Highlanders, a gymnastics team, gospel singers and a majorette troop. Meanwhile, at the other end of the field the RSPCA held a fun dog show with prizes awarded to the dog with the waggly-est tail and the one most wanted to be taken home by the judges.
This event looks set to become another annual turn out for the Wigston Support Group so look out for us at next year's fun day with, we hope, an even bigger stall.

The "Great" Great Glen Wheelbarrow Race
Sat. 22nd Aug. 2009 |
 |
|
After a very long abscence this quirky village tradition has made a very successful comeback. The race through the streets of Great Glen kicked off at 3pm with approximately 25 teams, including some in fancy dress and with decorated wheelbarrows. To add to the fun there was a marching band and suprise celebrity guests, with the evening closing in on a bar-b-que and live music at the event organiser's, The Royal Oak Public House. The Wigston Support Group competed in their decorated barrow and provided a dice game, hook a duck and pick a parcel to raise a fantastic £162 in just 2 hours.
This event promises to be a growing annual "barrow" of laughs and is definately one to look out for. Watch this site for details as they become available. |
